The Water Resource Bureau of the Taichung City Government launched a toll-free consultation line, 0800-530-053, for household sewage connections to improve the sanitation and quality of the living environment of Taichung residents. After receiving the household connection inquiry through the dedicated line, the Water Resource Bureau service team will assign designated staff to explain to the public, and through the assistance of service groups, accelerate the public's understanding of the benefits of household sewer connection and how to cooperate in improving the acceptance to sewers. The bureau hopes to improve the progress and quality of household sewage connection in Taichung City.
According to the Water Resource Bureau, the purpose of the establishment of the sewage household connection service group was to provide public consultation, application, and evaluation services on sewage household connection-pipe. Currently, the mandatory sewage household connection pipe has begun to take effect. As of November this year, the cumulative number of sewage connection pipes has reached more than 260000 households. According to the relevant provisions of the Sewerage Law, the household drainage system shall complete the sewage connection within six months from the public sewage system announcement.
The Water Resource Bureau explained that the qualified technician commissioned by the household should apply for the household connection-pipe project. But at present, it is still the reward period for household connection-pipe. The families should spend their money except for the connection obstacles, such as the insufficient space of the internal pipeline and the back lane of the building. As long as the household actively provides the typical spacing of the back lane (the width of drainage on one side should be ≥ 75 cm, and the width of drainage on both sides should be ≥ 150 cm), the Water Resource Bureau will handle it for free charge.
The Water Resource Bureau called on the public to remove the relevant obstacles to the pipe connection as soon as possible and cooperate with the connection operation, in order to create a good home environment and improve the quality of life and sanitation. Meanwhile, the bureau is also implementing the sustainable development goal of the United Nations "SDG6 Clean Water and Sanitation," taking into account the improvement of people's water environment.
