
Water Resources Bureau expressed that, as some of the water conservancy facilities along Dakeng River were old and damaged. In addition to the aforesaid environmental construction budget by the Tourism Bureau, it endeavored to get a budget subsidy for the “Groundsill Repair and Reinforcement Project for the Upstream of Dakeng River above Fengchia Bridge” from Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan. With a total budget of NT$12.5 million, this project was launched on July 16 last year and is expected to be completed by March next year. The main purpose of the project is to restore and enhance the functionality of 12 bridge groundsill locations between Fengchia Bridge and Minghsing Bridge in upstream of Dakeng River. Apart from reinforcing the intensity of bridge piers above, the new water storage function is also provided to facilitate water irrigation along the river.
Water Resources Bureau further explained that the Dakeng River environmental construction project was carried out along the Beitun Dakeng River Basin, which was in the upstream area of Dakeng River above Fengchia Bridge. Oriented to the construction of environment around water, this project has adopted eco-friendly methods and integrated landscape resources to create a comfortable and friendly waterfront space. It also maintains water stability and provides citizens the opportunity of experiencing and understanding the ecology and culture of Dakeng Scenic Area. (9/15*17)* Water Resources Bureau
