The Water Resources Bureau, Taichung City Government cooperated with the Taichung Branch of Soil and Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB), Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan to hold the “Net Zero Carbon Emission and Environmental Protection with SWCB in Taichung” event today (the 20th) at Taichung Civic Square. Themed on net zero carbon emission, this event not only promotes soil and water conservation concepts, but also combines with rural regeneration marketing to create a feast of knowledge about environmental protection. This event has specially invited soil and water conservation units from 8 county and city governments, the Central Environmental Education Alliance, and dozens of farming villages and communities with over 40 booths to showcase the event.
The Water Resources Bureau expressed that these booths demonstrated not only various interactive teaching aids themed on soil and water conservation, but also various multimedia technology such as the AR and VR mobile classroom. Together with the booth of “Shanshouxian”, a brand that promotes agricultural products of Taichung and Miaoli, this event has fully demonstrated the characteristics of farming villages, enabling the public to experience the local style of Taichung and Miaoli. In addition, Taichung City’s mascots “Love” and “Life” were also invited to give a dancing and singing performance based on “Water Fairy and Earth Fairy”, a theme set up by the SWCB Taichung Branch. The “Soil and Water Conservation Fairy Troup” also performed a classic action drama, which was suitable for people of all ages to watch, to share abundant soil and water conservation knowledge with the audience.
Moreover, visitors to this event can collect points by joining experience activities. Upon completion of all missions, participants will receive a special gift and an opportunity to win a big lucky draw prize (home appliance)! The organizer also arranged some mini-quiz contests with gifts to participants who answered the questions correctly. To answer everyone’s questions regarding soil and water conservation services, Taichung City Government’s soil and water conservation service group has set up a booth to provide simple counseling services. Anyone with questions about slopeland is welcome to access the free on-site survey guidance support through the reservation service provided by Water Resources Bureau (https://wrbeocin.taichung.gov.tw/slide/).
The Water Resources Bureau expressed that this event had adopted various methods to pass on soil and water conservation knowledge to improve the public’s understanding of the importance of soil and water conservation. Some family and social elements have also been added with the aspiration to continuously implement SDGs; enhance education on and increase citizens’ awareness of climate change; and turn Taichung into an economy-boosted and eco-friendly livable city.
