The Taichung City Government has applied to the Construction and Planning Agency for a prospective funding approval of NTD 58 million to solve the flooding problem caused by heavy rain at the intersection of Ziyou Road and Huanan Road in Dadu District. They have constructed new intercepting ditches, earth gabions, and rainwater sewers to improve the flooding problem in the area. They started the project in November last year and expect to complete it by the end of this year. The government hopes to reduce the likelihood of disasters caused by short-term heavy rainfall and ensure the safety of citizens and friends.
According to the Water Resource Bureau, the city government has set up a new intercepting ditch at Huanan Road to drain the water on the upstream slope into the earth gabions through the interception method. Then along Lane 250 of Ziyou Road and the newly installed rainwater sewer under Ziyou Road to Jinshengkeng ditch, with an improved length of about 600 meters. When the project is completed, it will improve the flooding problem at the intersection of Ziyou Road and Huanan Road. The protected area is about 80000 square meters, and the protected population is approximately 1500.
The Water Resource Bureau also stated that when implementing stormwater sewer projects, it is often necessary to coordinate various pipeline units to remove pipeline obstructions, and the plan is relatively complicated. In addition, the Water Conservancy Bureau will coordinate with the pipeline units to handle pipeline relocation orders before construction to facilitate the progress of the project, which can reduce the construction interface and improve construction efficiency.
The Water Resource Bureau appealed to people to stand together during difficult times when the construction period caused traffic congestion. Moreover, the project is complying with the city government's policy of prohibiting road excavation during the Spring Festival. It's to maintain the smooth traffic and environmental quality for people returning home during the Spring Festival holidays. The city government has actively promoted the drainage improvement project in areas prone to flooding, reducing the likelihood of disasters caused by short-term heavy rainfall, and ensured the safety of all citizens.
