The Water Resources Bureau (WRB) said that the project site is located in a densely populated area of Taiping District, where there are many factories, residents and all kinds of traffic. The impacts on local daily lives were inevitable as RCP diversion pipes and box culverts were to be installed at Lane 807 of Guangxing Road. For this, local factory and property owners were consulted to build a temporary access road connecting Taiti East Road at the end of Lane 807, Guangxing Road, to keep the traffic flowing and reduce transportation inconvenience for local residents.
In addition, orchards were situated along the downstream section of the project scope, posing potential challenges for project progress. Seeing this, WRB had a meeting with the locals and started relocating these plantations after a series of field surveys. Also, some buildings spanned across the channel in the middle and upstream sections of the southern ditch. The city hall asked the owners to cooperate by demolishing the parts in the way, so that the project could be successfully completed and the flooding problem around Guangxing Road was resolved effectively.
The Water Resources Bureau (WRB) further stated that bursts of rainfall in very short periods of time have become increasingly frequent as a result of extreme climate changes in recent years. As a solution, channel widening, water diversion and higher levees have been incorporated to improve the situation, hoping to effectively solve the flooding problem that has been bothering people of Lane 807, Guangxing Road of Taiping for years. The city hall is grateful for the full cooperation of local residents while the construction was ongoing. It is they who helped the project going successfully to ensure the safety of people's lives and properties. (10/2*16)* Water Resources Bureau
