The Water Resources Bureau noted that Dayuan Park often floods during heavy rains due to the convergence of several upstream water routes, which overwhelmed the existing drainage system. To address this, the Bureau organized multiple coordination meetings with local and relevant entities. They installed a 20-meter inverted siphon under Section 2, Zhongxing Road, using a jacking method and improved the downstream drainage by desilting and sealing the channels, thus enhancing the area's flood control capacity. Before starting construction, the Bureau also held a pipeline coordination meeting with Chunghwa Telecom, the Taiwan Water Corporation, the gas companies, and Taipower to ensure there were no pipeline obstacles during the project.
The Water Resources Bureau noted that the city government prioritizes public opinion and is committed to addressing regional flooding issues. They expressed their gratitude for the patience and cooperation of local leaders and residents during the construction. Moving forward, the Bureau will keep working with local entities to tackle flooding issues across Taichung City, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents and provide a more comfortable living environment for all.
